How to clean your fruit properly - getting rid of nasty pesticides

Claire and I thought we would share how we clean our fruits before dehydration. As we use the whole apple and the peels of oranges and limes in our tea blends, this is very important us.

Firstly we get up nice and early in the morning(we love it really)then we go to Blochairn fruit market to collect our juicy fruit, we take a while in deciding which fruit has the ripest skins, full of zest. Then its off back home to begin the dehydrating process, yay lots and lots of peeling and slicing to be done.
So before we get down to all that peeling and slicing, the fruit must be cleansed. Our magical fruit cleaner isn't some shop bought cleanser, it's the humble bottle of white vinegar.

vinegar was discovered by accident 10,000years ago when wine was accidently allowed to ferment too long and it turned sour. It kills about 98% of surface pesticides on your fruit and veggies.
 .
we steep the fruit in the basins with 1 part vinegar and 4 parts water

and let it sit for 15-20 minutes. We give them a good rinse under the tap,
then let them sit to dry.
Yay, the peeling begins. Sooooo much peeling.

Then the peels are dried out for a couple of hours.

And that's it, all done and ready to be added to our blends.
